Review of 2023

What a year!  Aside from tennis, we had our quiz night in March (thanks again to Malcolm for organising this), an open-tennis afternoon in April, two skittles evenings (May and October), a bike ride along the Camel Trail in June, our croquet tournament in September, and finishing up with a pre-Christmas ten-pin bowling and meal at Trethorne.  Thanks to everyone who has made this all possible – you know who you are!

The tennis court has been well used, with non-members young and old booking the court on a ‘pay-and-play’ basis, and with members playing mornings, afternoons and evenings.  In the summer, we saw the launch of Tuesday club-nights, where members could play tennis with whoever else came along; and of rusty rackets on Wednesday evenings, enabling those less confident or agile to play a more relaxed game.

We wish all our members and friends a Merry Christmas, and we look forward to a new year with more activities, and more of us playing more tennis.

See below for details of past events from 2016 onwards

FLEXIBLE DATES & TIMES:   Court clean-up   –  unfortunately, the grass doesn’t cut itself, and hedges, brambles and trees continue to ignore our requests not to grow.  Members are therefore asked to help in the annual clean-up;  we want to keep membership rates low, and if we were to hire contractors to manage this, it would be expensive.  Les is free on Saturday and will be there with strimmer and lawn-mower; others will come at times convenient to them.  We might have machine operators (strimming, mowing, hedge-cutting) gathering at a different time from the quieter gardeners and cleaners (cleaning and repairing clubhouse, clipping hedges, removing rubbish etc.).   So please do come along;  if nothing else, it’s a great way to meet up with other members.  Let us know if you’d like to come and join us in any aspect of the court clean-up – contact us.  Thank you!
